We have used all of the Apologia texts from General to Physics. Just to let you know, there is quite a jump from Physical to Biology. We enjoyed the text, but I did tweak it a bit to make it more manageable. For example, some modules require a lot of vocabulary to be memorized. I had them write out each definition and be familiar with it, but only chose a limited number to actually be memorized. Using the test as my guide, I listed vocab that was either on the test or ones that needed to be known in order to understand another question. Then I added (from the voc list) words that were common or ones that I felt were most important to know. These words became the "list to be memorized" for my students. If there were just to many, I let them take that part open book and the rest of the test closed book. By the time they had worked through this text, they were ready for the rest of the Apologia textbooks which they did pretty much independently (other than helping them drill before tests). They had learned Wile's format and how to study and loved their science books. Since you already have the microscope, just add the slides and a couple of dissection specimins and you should be fine. By the way, my older son couldn't stomach dissecting the frog - we used frogguts.com instead ;-) Blessings, Julie
