Notgrass' Exploring World History and Exploring American History. My daughter loved this series. It is a little more like a text book but the author writes it like he is having a conversation with the student. The supplemental books are things like collection of real speeches, etc. When my dd first started this, she got upset because she could not find the answers. I did the first lesson with her and quickly realized this was not like other textbooks. You have to establish your own thoughts/values and the questions are more like exploring your own opinions. There are a few definite answer things too. We have been very pleased and now look forward to finding the Govt. course.
