I had purchased a TI-84 Graphing Calculator for my son, but it was way too confusing for both of us. So, my son used his basic scientific calculator for the ACT and did just fine. Whatever calculator you decide to use, make sure your son has plenty of time to get familiar with it prior to the test, otherwise, it will slow him down too much. HTH, Sue
