Aloha, My name is Tera and I am thinking about homeschooling my daughter. I homeschooled my two older girls until the 8th grade when I sent them to public school. We used Abeka but it was not the DVDs and they didn't keep track of grades for us. My older girls will be graduating from public school this year. My youngest daugther is 11 and in the 6th grade. We send her to a private Christian school. Since I started working three years ago, I have struggled with whether or not I made the right decision. I HATE the rat race. I don't enjoy my children anymore and life is so hum drum. We are usually up until 10 or 11 doing homework just to get up the next day to do it all over again. Anyway, I have been considering homeschooling my youngest daughter. We live in Hawaii and there would be no choice as far as cirriculum...we would have to use something that is accredited and that would keep her transcript for her. So I was looking at Program 1 on Abeka DVD's program. My concerns are these. 1) how do the students do labs and things that require teacher's direct guidance and feedback? 2) Is there sufficient support for the math and science programs? The reason that I ended up sending my older ones to school was that I felt that I didn't have enough background to teach things like Chemistry. Thanks for the feedback. Tera
