he may not need calculus for some majors but would need statistics; for other majors he might need calculus but not statistics. If your ds knows what he wants to major in in college, just check at a couple universities he might want to go to and see what their recommended math sequence is. (His advisor might have already based the choice on what ds told her he wanted to major in.) But do it immediately---because you don't want your ds to get behind in a math class. If he needs to switch classes, you should do so ASAP. You should be able to find the info online--just go to a couple of college websites and look up the recommended courses for ds's chosen major. If his major needs both calculus and statistics, or just needs statistics, he should be fine.
