Rochester area. I would be happy to email with you further if you would like. I love curriculum and also enjoy finding fun ways of learning material or pursuing interests. We have used a lot of things over the years and if you can tell me a bit more about your daughter, I can share some suggestions to get you started. I have graduated one son (now full-time at RIT) and my second son will be a senior in the fall. If you need some help on the regulations for the school district, I can give you some guidance in this area as well.
Some questions to get you started: What are your daughter's strengths and weaknesses? Are there subjects she struggles with? Do you know why? What areas does she excel in? Does she like to read? Write? Does she prefer "hands-on" learning? How does she seem to learn best - is she a visual or auditory learner? What are her interests? What brings her joy or excites her? How about future goals?
Do you prefer a more traditional approach or something more eclectic? Do you want something laid out for you or something that requires getting books at the library? What are your reasons for wanting to homeschool? Struggles in school? Religious or moral reasons? More freedom of choices? Are you looking for secular or Christian curricula or does it matter? Is she on grade level? Below? Above? Anything else that might be pertinent to choosing materials?
I know this might seem overwhelming, but think about these questions and see what you can come up with. Thinking about these issues will help you in the long run and make your homeschooling experience much more enjoyable not only for you but for your daughter as well.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Julie
