The 4/21 posts on the religious board are about the CollegePlus thing. I'd recommend researching that really carefully before going with that.
As for the CLEP vs. AP, part of that depends on the college your child wants to go to. Different schools have different policies about CLEP and AP, and it is up to each individual institution as to whether/how they count CLEP and AP credits. Some schools only use them for placement purposes; some will give college credit for one but not the other, some require different/higher scores for the CLEP/AP courses to count, etc. So you really need to check with some colleges your child might want to go to to see what their policies are. Otherwise, you could be putting in lots of time and money on tests that won't help your child with colelge in the long run (except that the courses would still count for high school credit, which is worth something!). If nothing else, however, a true AP course would look good on your child's high school transcript. But it needs to end with your child taking and passing the AP test for it to look good, I think!
