What I have done with external accelerated courses is list them as high school courses/credits. I made up course codes and used a letter prefix to indicate courses taken through various institutions, but prior to that I simply used an asterisk to indicate where the course was taken, and listed the institution names underneath, one time, after all the courses. I think this makes the transcript easier for admissions folks to read. Also, this way, I don't have to use space to account for each course and institution right in the transcript block, which works better for me since ds took several courses over a couple years from the same outside institutions.

For example:

Grade 10:
Honors English II 1.0***
Honors Precalculus 1.0**
Latin II 1.0***
Personal Fitness 1.0
Honors Chemistry 1.0

Grade 11:
Introduction to Physics 1.0*
Honors English III 1.0
Honors U. S. History 1.0
AP Calculus AB 1.0**
Honors Latin III 1.0***

* credit earned through Example Name Community college
** credit earned though Stanford University Education Program for Gifted Youth
*** credit earned through Florida Virtual School

(This is not showng up the way I typed it, with the credits all lined up vertically, so use your imagination to see it that way.)

Side note: Depending on your situation, you might want to award him .5 or more on his GPA for the accelerated credit course. I did this with ds's AP courses. (This is the traditional way more "weight" is assigned to accelerated coursework. One of my dc, who graduated from a very intense public high school finished with a GPA of 5.27 because of weighting for more demanding coursework.)

The thing is, a high school credit reflects credit for a high school course, not for college "credit hours".

College credit hours are different from high school graduation requirement credits.

For example, a 2-semester AP course, which can give a student credit for a 3 credit hour college course, is always only listed on high school transcripts as a 1 credit course for high school credit purposes.

Also, (slightly different issue) I'm pretty sure most colleges award dual enrollment credit using official records from the institution where the credit was earned. For example, they don't acccept high school records of AP scores to award college credit -- the student must have the College Board send AP score reports directly to the college. The state schools here require students to contact the cc to request original, official transcripts for diual enrollment credits.

So, I would just list the course as a high school course with the typical high school credit. The college credit hours will be granted later with transcripts from the cc.

Did I undertand your question correctly, and does this make sense?
