Personally, I would go for it. Yes, it will be a struggle with much sacrifice for *all* of your family, but look at what you will have accomplished at the end of it. If you sit down as a family and discuss the ramifications of it as well as your expectations, and everyone is on-board, there is no reason why, as a family, you should not be able to accomplish this if you really want it. Your children will no doubt experience growth as well. It actually sounds like a terrific homeschool life lesson. Eleven months is not an insignificant amount of time, but it's also not forever.
