I can offer input on science and writing. My two boys (1 h.s.,1 middleschool) use Apologia science with little input from me. They really enjoy their science. Each text has a companion cd that covers labs etc. Scholapress.com offers daily lesson plans for each text. At the beginning of the year I place stikki-notes throughout the book with a note on what to do that day. This has worked great for us as my boys have to work independently much of the time also. For writing, my middleschooler used Apologia's "Jump In" writing text this year. This is a fairly independent course, and I have seen his writing improve this year. The other course that I am considering for next year is writeathome.com. This is an online full year course. The student is assigned to a teacher/coach who gives assignments over the computer. It is quite expensive but sounds great for moms! Good luck ! Geneva :)
