Make sure you check the homeschool laws in your state. Many states (NC included) don't allow you to homeschool anyone but your own children. Before you proceed further make sure it's okay with the laws in your state. Then figure out where the two are headed. If they are both headed for college figure out a tentative schedule. Most colleges require 3-4 years of science, 4 years of math, 4 years of English and 2-3 years of History. It might help to look at some of the websites for the schools they might attend. I checked out the state schools where I lived since I knew my dd would have to attend one of them. They can tell you what their minimum admission requirements are. Once you have that info make a plan. Then utilize some of the suggestions here: We liked Notgrass. It is a history, English and Bible course combined. There is a text you read for history, you are assigned a paper to write every week based on something you're learning about in that week and you're assigned a book to read that ties into what you are studying. It can be done very independently. We like Apologia for the same reasons. You will need to do the experiments with them but they are easy and use items found around the home (except biology of course) you can buy kits to use specifically with these texts. Good luck
