TEACHERS MANUAL-With the WriteShop Teacher's Manual, you'll confidently teach descriptive, informative, narrative, and persuasive writing.

Lesson plans cover BOTH WriteShop I and WriteShop II, including discussion ideas, pre-writing activities, thorough explanations, and plenty of student samples. Teachers and homeschool parents alike will find many other helpful teacher resources in this idea-packed book.

The TM helps ensure success of the program. Without it, the student workbooks lose much of their effectiveness. Only one-quarter of the TM contains lesson plans. The remainder of the handy, tab-divided binder is devoted to helping you learn to effectively edit and evaluate your students' writing. One look at the TM Table of Contents will convince you that this meaty resource is no ordinary teacher's guide!

STUDENT GUIDE LEVEL 1-This level is ideal for most 6th-10th graders. It also works successfully with older high schoolers who need to learn these skills. In most cases, it is recommended that students complete WriteShop I before beginning WriteShop II.

Not only do students learn to narrow their topics and choose vivid, descriptive wording, they learn to add interest to their writing by varying their sentence structure. Each lesson's Skill Builder introduces new tools and provides practice. Once a new sentence variation is introduced, students will apply it in future writing lessons. This "Learn-Practice-Do" approach helps ensure mastery.

STUDENT GUIDE LEVEL 2-Is your student prepared for the essay portion of the SAT college entrance exam?
WriteShop can help!

In addition to teaching descriptive narration, narrative voice, and point of view, WriteShop II offers six comprehensive lessons in essay writing. Students learn to write and edit opinion essays, compare/contrast essays, and essays that describe or define. Special focus is placed on writing timed essays.

Recommended for grades 8-12. Most students will need to complete WriteShop I first, but an older student with a strong foundation in basic writing skills can launch right in to WriteShop II.
