I purchased this for $60 plus shipping off of Rainbow Resource. Unfortunately, we need money for the holidays, so this is now for sale. It's new and never used. Huge 3-ring binder with 14 assorted unit studies. 627 pages MY FIRST REPORT Set of Fourteen Unit Studies by Hewitt Homeschool Resources
Studies include: * Birds * Bugs and Worms * Marine Life * Me * Music * Famous People * Pets and Farm Animals * Plants * Reptiles and Amphibians * The Solar System and Space * Transportation * Weather * Wild Animals - Large Mammals * Wild Animals - Small Mammals Essentially, your children can use dictionaries, encyclopedias, the internet, etc, to learn all they can about the various topics. And then there are pages and pages of ideas for further study.
Just to give you an idea of what's inside this great set, I'll try to give you an inside look into one of the subjects above.
In The Solar System and Space topic, there are 12 separate reports that kids can complete. If you focus on one a week, that's a whole quarter's worth of study with just one of the 14 units, which means that this binder can last you for years!
The various reports for the solar system study include... My First Report on: -- Earth's Sun -- Mercury -- Venus -- Earth -- Earth's Moon -- Mars -- Jupiter -- Saturn -- Uranus -- Neptune -- Pluto -- Asteroids, Comets, Meteors Each report sheet has 5 to 7 questions for kids to answer (some of Earth's questions include: 1. How far away from the Earth is our Sun? 2. How many days does it take the Earth to spin on its axis? 3. What is Earth's satellite called? 4. What makes up the inside of the Earth?) Report sheets also include assorted vocabulary words (can even use them as spelling words!) Each topic also includes a "unit study" section. Again, using the Solar System topic as an example, the unit study consists of 12 double-sided pages that include various activities, learning suggestions, worksheets, etc. (just a couple of the many suggestions given are: Make a time line showing how our knowledge of space and solar system developed, Find words that rhyme with words related to the solar system, chart the planets from smallest to largest, make a mobile to hang in your room of the solar system) There are tons of ideas and suggestions for: o Bible o History/Georgraphy/Social Studies o Reading o Language o Math o Science/Health o Physical Education o Music o Art o Field Trips In the Solar System study (again, just using this one as an example... all the other topics are created similarly), there is also a list of helpful resources, a wordfind activity worksheet, a worksheet to fill in assorted facts about the plants and sun, another worksheet that can be used to have kids put the planets in correct order, two pages that show various constellations, two pages of Bible verses that revolve around the topic that kids can copy or do whatever you instruct them to use them for. There are also lined masters at the very beginning of the binder to copy and give to kids to write all of their reports on.
Anyway, as you can see, this is a HUGE resource. Again, I paid over $60 (with shipping). Sacrificing it for only $40 (and that price includes shipping)
E-mail me if interested and thanks!
