I see this post is rather old, but felt compelled to answer it anyhow.

Been there - done that!

PLEASE do not blame yourself. "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you." (1 Peter 4:12) It sounds to me that you are doing your very best and as the Bible instructs - raising your children up in the Lord. PTL!

My DD went through a similar situation. She wanted to go back to the private school she was removed from in the 3rd grade. It was all she could focus on and it didn't help that I was wishy-washy in allowing her to think she 'might' go back and encouraging her to nurture her private school friends relationships. After much prayer, I had to admit that this was the path we would be on and she needed to accept it and be happy in it. At first, she wouldn't accept this, but in time she realized that this was the right path. Now she is a joyful 8th grader looking forward to high school as a homeschooler. It took a lot of prayer and many heart to heart conversations, but it worked out!

By standing firm and loving, your relationship with your son will only grow and blossom. All my best!
