When life knocks you down it's hard to see clearly. Sometimes tough times feel like "water boarding"... it's one thing after another, after another. Pretty soon, you can lose all hope and feel like "what's the point". Depression.
As moms, we can't stay down very long or our kids pay a huge price. You've got to find a way to pull yourself out of it---actually, it's God who will pull you out of it.
1. Begin by letting go: cast your cares onto God, He can handle them. What I mean is start listing all of the things weighing you down to Him in prayer and as you say each thing, tell God you give it to Him to worry about... then let it go.
2. Write down on paper all of the good things about your life. Even if all you can think of is that you are all still alive (seriously). Keep it on the refrigerator: "I AM BLESSED BECAUSE:" as you think of more good things, list them. Use pen so you won't be able to erase them when you hit another down moment.
3. Look at what you CAN do, and do it. Inactivity breeds more inactivity, which breeds depression. Even if its just taking your kids to the park to play. Get out of the house for a day. Figure out what is most important for them to learn (reading and math at this age). Read one day, do math the next. Take baby steps that aren't overwhelming, knowing that doing very little is better than doing nothing. Set an attainable goal, and you will soon be encouraged.
Above all, draw close to GOd. He really is the only one that can really help and really change things.
You're in my prayers. You can do it!
