I want to let you know that you are definetely not alone. I don't have any magic words of wisdom, as I am in a similiar situation, except she is my step-daughter who will be entering the 9th grade this Fall. She has almost non-existant motivation and zero interest in completing anything that she deems as unimportant or challenging. It is frustrating to no end to continue to try and encourage her, rationalize with her, talk to her... for her to continue with her lazy attitude and complete lack of discipline. I am seriously pondering the thought of returning her to public school in the Fall. I have 2 other children I homeschool as well and the teen is just sucking every last bit of energy and patience out of me. Take care and know that I have empathy for your situation. I will add you and your son to my prayer list.
