Subject:         Much Needed Help for Next Year
Date: April 16, 2009 at 9:14 am PST children (boy 7, girl 12) come from an awesome Christian (with A Beka curriculum) school (we had to close at end of 2008 school year) so I homeschooled for 2008-2009. Of course, it was great for my thinking but we had to work through a lot in the beginning with not being with friends. That worked itself out fortunately. Well, we're nearing the end-of-the year and I feel like I have failed my daughter) I feel like she didn't excel like she could. I found that having taught 7th grade for the first time (in our Christian school I taught Pre-K through 4th at the most) I didn't care for the curriculum on a couple of the subjects. To me it was missing much vital information to help me teach. Of course it was considerably different than having taught the younger grades so I had a lot of adjusting myself. My daughter has been in tears a lot this year. I found there were areas that needed improvement that she hadn't had in the beginning. I had to work through that as well. I guess with all that said I am considering looking into ACE and Christian Light Publication's curriculum. I am so distraught at the "visual" advantages that A Beka has for the kids that I am troubled at the thought that the others do not have that. I just want to know if anyone has been through this transition and what are your thoughts. I am really troubled and trying hard not to stress. My children's future is very important to me and I (and my husband) want to make the best possible. Thanks for "hearing" me vent.
