My son (who is a vegetarian - 23 years old) has been sick for four years (onset of illness began with an attack of acute abdominal pain and 104 fever while out of town with recurrent "attacks" until now) has been given a diagnosis (inaccurate as it MUST be) of "GASTRITIS" (obviously for lack of a specific, accurate explanation and diagnosis for his symptoms). I am desperate and would like to get him set up with the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL (even though it is about 8 hours away from where we live in LA), however I would not be able to pay for a hotel as we have spent every penny on doctors, hospitals, and tests. The worst part of all of this is the lack of support by others who would rather believe it is "all in his head". When he has these "attacks", he runs a high fever and experiences horrible abdominal pain. How is this in his head? How? I refuse to believe that! He is weary and so am I - however, I know I have to be encouraging and supportive to help him keep going.............even his father tells him that everyone will think he is a bum as he cannot work as he says he feels dull abdominal pain constantly.
