It's the same with my dc 9 -- and she's only in third grade! I have to stand over her and watch her every minute. I also have a 6 y/o and 2 y/o. My 6 y/o is no problem.
I warned my 9 y/o that if she didn't get a better attitude and apply herself that I would send her to ps. It would be so easy. There is even a bus stop near our house.
I could do a lot of things that are infinitely more fun and useful if I didn't hs. I could go to the gym and lose this 30 lbs that I have gained since having kids. I could take more responsiblity for running errands and stuff so my dh could eventually be self-employed. I could spend more one on one time with my 2 y/o if I sent them to school. It would take a world of stress off my shoulders.
My dh has no problem with me quitting, but I probably won't let myself quit. I hate that. Also, there's the trade-off of having them in a terrible ps - which is the case in our area. They would be getting a poor-quality education. Also, even in the elementary school, they have had incidents of student on student sexual assault. I've been around the kids who go there, who are foul-mouthed hooligans. I don't think I want my precious dc exposed to that.
But that doesn't take away my fatigue, loneliness, self-doubt, etc............
