Welcome to VegSource.com! For 10 years, homeschoolers everywhere have been successfully buying and selling curriculum and supplies on our swap boards. We’re glad to see so many Ebay sellers joining us and we’d like to formally welcome you and do what we can to make selling at VegSource.com easy and fun. (Is that a teacher’s edition I see on your stack of books? Great! Let’s sell it!) Selling at VegSource.com is different from selling on an auction site, so here are a few tips to get you started and a step-by-step guide to posting a Swap Board ad at VegSource.com: NO FEES! The vast majority of people selling their homeschool items at VegSource.com never have to pay a fee. The only time you have to pay a fee to sell at VegSource.com is if you are categorized as a Dealer. (Details below) At the auctions sites, you are subject to ever-increasing fees, sometimes even if you haven’t been able to sell an item at all. YOU SET THE PRICE! We’ve all heard about the guy who found a baseball card in his attic , thought it might be worth a few dollars, and sold it for thousands of dollars at auction. WOW! But the truth is it’s much more common to have an item sell for less than its actual value. At VegSource.com, YOU set the price. If you think a book is worth $10, you don’t have to sell it for $3. Before you post your ads, please read the Swap Board Rules. We want you to be able to share some great bargains here and that’s hard to do if your ad is deleted. If there is anything you don’t understand, please fill out the contact form and someone will clear it up for you. J Ready? Let’s get started! The Busy Homeschooler’s Guide to Quick and Easy Sales at VegSource.com: 1. Make a list of everything you want to sell. 2. Divide the list according to which board would be best for the item. Remember, each item can be posted on only one board. If you have a book that is appropriate for more than one age group, put it on one board today. If it doesn’t sell, you can put it on a different board tomorrow.
You’re allowed three (3) ads per board per day. If you have more than three items for one board, no problem! You can list more than one item in an ad. SAVE A COPY OF YOUR LISTS! You may need them later for reference or for copying to re-post on another day. You can save them in a word processing document or an email addressed to yourself, whatever works best for you. Now you’re ready to post your ads. 3. At the top of each Swap Board, you’ll see a yellow rectangle that says “post message.” Click on that and you’ll get a form to fill out to place your ad. 4. Writing your ad When you’re writing your ad, you can do a lot to prevent problems, sell your items quickly and smoothly, and maximize your sales. a) Name Pick ONE posting name that you’ll use in all your ads. Try to make it unique so your ads won’t be confused with someone else’s. Please don’t put symbols or any fancy posting in the name field – you may use letters and numbers and these punctuation marks: / - _ (That’s backslash, hyphen and underscore) b) Email address Be sure to include the email address where you can be reached. All swap board transactions are handled by private email. Any responses posted on the boards will be removed. Any ads requesting people to respond on the boards instead of by email will be removed. Any ads without an email address witl be removed. (Please note: The form for swap board ads has a “reply to this post” link. This is actually for the seller’s use so he/she can reply to his/her own ad noting that items have been sold.) c) Subject Write a brief description of what’s offered in the ad. Please don’t use ALL CAPS, lots of !!!!!!!! or ~~~~~ or ****** or other attention-getting devices. Make it as informative as you can in a few words. Someone looking for math books is more likely to read an ad labeled “7 th and 8 th Grade Math” than one that just says “homeschool books for sale” d) Comments This is where you list your items for sale and give the terms of sale. The more accurate your description is, the smoother your transactions will be. Would you like to dress up your ad text with some c o l o r, some italics, some underlining, some bold or big print? Would you like to include pictures? In the upper left corner of the Swap ad form is a link to html posting tips. Check it out! (items that cannot be bought, sold, traded, or given away at VegSource.com are listed below. Please feel free to offer your Teacher’s Editions for sale – at VegSource.com, we know a homeschooling mom or dad IS a teacher.
