I know this was posted last year, but I have the same question myself. I have not used Heart of Wisdom, but what I gather is that you can really start using it when a child is at a 4th grade level. They have to be able to read and write pretty well. Math and phonics with the language arts are your choice. They have lots of suggestions, lists of resources and a book that describes the process of the HOWTA approach.
My Father's World starts much earlier and has more complete cirricula for the younger and older grades. Otherwise I think they both have the same premise of intergrating subjects, especially history, into the Biblcal point of view.
As far as ease of use, and how good either one is I haven't a clue. But I would love to learn more if anyone has experience in either one!
