My dd, 10, used English from the roots up first and then switched to more demanding latin program. My ds, 8, uses EFTRU and he enjoys it, though we don't try to teach him latin any other.
I did not find that the english from the roots up helped her much with her latin because there was no conjugation of verbs; it was all roots. BUT it does help her a great deal in her reading vocabulary so it was very worth while program in that respects.
The rummy root games are pretty much the english from the roots up flash cards. You could easily create your won on your computer by imputing the latin, greek and english separately and then using preprintg card stock or coloring on it by your self. I bought 'more rummy roots' which corresponds to the english from the roots up II program and then made my own eftru vol 1 flashcards.
The benefit from that program is SAT help and getting into a foreign language easily.

Brandy
