Hi. We are about 1/2 way through level 1 in first grade. I keep switching programs. The dvds are very time-consuming for the teacher to watch each week, but you learn a lot from Barbara. You MUST watch the videos because the information is NOT included in the teacher's manual. The TM includes the dvd's, the rule tunes, and the sheets from the student's manual already filled in for you. However, she introduces sentence structure and other things in the dvds which are not written out for you in the manual. We started this program after my son had already learned to read and write fairly well, so he has been reluctant to begin "from scratch" with this program. I'm still debating whether I'll use it for my younger two or whether I'll use a more "gentle" method like Dr. Ruth Beechick recommends. Hope that helps. Allison
