I used it for my son in 3rd grade and just the Lang Arts modules for 2 older ones.

The supporting materials are good. It depends on whether you have more money than time as to it being worth the extra money.

If you can do your thing without feeling terrible that you're behind and overwhelmed by the sheer volume of work to catch up. Then go for it. I have one that would do well and get everything done. If you have children that require actual one on one work for them to get through the day or one that is easily discouraged then it might not be the best choice. (Unless you hide the schedule from them and don't get uptight that they didn't get everything done and it's past dinner time, again.)

I did really like the Day by Day schedule. My 3rd grader was a self starter and would be up and working on school by 7am and be done by 11 or so. He is a sponge and soaks up everything. He doesn't require teaching something more than once.

I would have kept on with CH, but I decided to go with a more hands on approach I could involve everyone together on. We do a lot of reading and projects. I felt I didn't have the time to spend on their interests along the way with a pre-made schedule breathing down my neck.

If you do well with outside imposed structure; then it's a very good choice. If you can have the structure there and toss it when you need or want to without feeling extreme guilt:( then it's a good pick.

If you want to make up your own schedule for everything; check out www.home-school-inc.com
It's free. You can assign courses, assignments, class work, and grades. It will generate report cards and transcripts. I just started using it.
