My daughter is finishing 3rd grade this year and we did both VFCR and Wordly Wise 3000. There are only 15 chapters in one and 16 in the other, so it is really easy to do either one book at a time, or do a chapter from one book and the following week do a chapter from the other. Wordly Wise increases their everyday vocabulary. Classical Roots builds their vocabulary, but in a more "long-term" way. (We didn't pay much attention to the grade levels on the books. We did WW level 2 and VFCR level 4 at the same time, then WW 3 and VFCR 5, then finished the year with WW 4) By the way, you don't really need the teacher's book. Just the student book, test book, and answer key. You could get by without the test book, but I like to do a weekly test to keep grading simple. I only record the test grade and not the workbook grade.
