You know - unless the parents asked you to - I'd stay out of it. They do not have to defend the way they choose to homeschool, and if the teachers are good ones, they'll find ways to work around it - or all reading assignments could be done at home. I've been blessed with early readers - but for #2, it is a struggle, and I often wonder if she wouldn't enjoy school more if I didn't emphasize reading so much. I don't agree with the concept of unschooling - but thats because it's not right for us. I've read tons of stories about how kids turned out perfectly fine at the end of unschooling - so I'd never look down on someone that went down that path.
