First of all,
Homeschoolers are not different from other kids.
Although a lot of us have more manners....
I'm soooooooo tired of hearing "don't you miss being around other kids" and "what about social skills," have you heard how other kids talk; they do not have social skills!
Homeschoolers can join theatre plays, karate, basketball, etc., if they want to meet other kids. We aren't confined in our homes!
I take piano/voice lessons, I have done theatre plays, I am a Sunday school teacher, I am in 4H, I have a job, I am about to become a page at our capitol, I volunteer at a nursing home, I've been in different singing competitions, I did Poetry Out Loud, and am doing it again this year.
Another thing I do not like is people trying to call us homescholars. You do not call high schoolers, high scholars! So why call us that?
Lastly, Homeschooling is great because you do not have to deal with the people you do not want to deal with, you are not distracted by others, there is no peer pressure, you learn that it does not matter what others think, be yourself.
If they do not accept you, so what, they will not be there for you in the future or help you reach your goal.
I do video homeschooling, it is just like regular school:
they send me dvds to watch (they have the teachers and class on them), they send me my text books and tests/quizzes, they assign me compositions, book reports, etc., to write; then I send them in the mail to their office, and they grade them. Afterwards, they send us back our report cards. They also send a calendar, telling me when to send in my tests, and when my breaks are.
The only bad thing about homeschooling is that when it snows, yep, school doesn't close for us. Lol!
Anyway, I have been homeschooled for 8 years and I love it!
