Ouch! I had mine out just before I turned 17. I had just gotten my braces off and if the wisdom teeth were allowed to come in, they would have messed everything up. I was asleep, thankfully, and then swelled up like a chipmunk for over a week. Thanks to the oral surgeon for codeine...
