We adopted a little boy from the Ukraine 1 yr ago.
The reason we adopted outside the US is we felt we couldn't go through the heartache if the parents or parent wanted the child back or refused to let us adopt the child. (which hear alot with domestic adoptions). Plus you have to be foster parents first for a period of time to the child before the adoption will go through completely (if you are adopting an older child) With babies--there is always the chance of the mother or parents wanting their child back before the adoption is final. This is why we adopted from another country. The cost is no more different. US you have to pay for court costs etc which can be as expensive as an international adoption.
