The September 30 issue of the "Honolulu Advertiser" had the following letter to the editor:
FORGET DIET FADS; HERE'S THE ANSWER
Our national obsession with weight loss has driven us to extreme lengths. The answer to the growing plague of obesity is not in which drug is safe or unsafe. There is a safe, effective and supremely healthy way to weight loss, but, unfortunately, it suffers from a poor image.
If I told you that you could lose all the weight you wanted and, at the same time, substantially lower your risk of heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, e. coli infection and mad cow disease, you'd probably say that this is too good to be true.
What if I then told you that it wouldn't cost you a penny and that you would even save 40 to 70 percent on your grocery bill? Wait, there's more. this program will make you feel so much better that you may find yourself running marathons and triathlons, thereby getting the exercise you need to keep muscles firm and strong and slowing down the aging process.
What does all this?
A diet consisting of veggies, whole grains and fruit, with no added oil.
