I never really understood what it meant to "listen to my body" before I went vegan 4 years ago. But as soon as I cut out all animal products it was as if my body could finally tell me when it needed certain nutrients, vitamins, etc. It sounds weird, but it's true for me and for many people. I never approached veganism as a "diet" in the way that millions of people approach fad diets. I am not familiar with Dr. McDougal, but I have never needed a meal plan or a complete cookbook to help me go vegan. To me, it was just a way of flushing out more negative from my life and embracing what my body and soul really needed: real food! If you still exerperience dizziness and fatigue (although I know it's been months since that post!) try figuring out what your body needs (i.e. iron, potassium, B6, etc etc etc). The more we simplify our diet (but keep it diverse of course), the more we are better able to understand just exactly what it is we are eating. Good luck and happy eating!
