I have several books and dvd's that advocate a vegan life-style and whenever I offer to lend one to a friend or family member, the only one that is ever accepted with enthusiasm is Skinny Bitch (or Skinny Bastard for the guys).
After reading this book, they usually either become vegan or at least become more interested in the subject and request more information. So I say, the catchy title and writing style obviously works, and that's what it's all about, isn't it? Great information can be found in a book, but if a person doesn't read it, they won't get that info. It's that simple.
I was also thrilled to find "Skinny Bitch, Bun in the Oven" it was perfectly timed to support my good friend's pregnancy. The book was a great tool to help her with so many usually intelligent people's comments about mothers needing so much protein. I have found "..Bun in the Oven" to be even more insightful and well researched than the first "Skinny Bitch." Keep up the good work Kim and Rory, it is much appreciated! Also thanks for your comments DeDe!
So glad you enjoyed bun in the oven! There are so many misconceptions out there about pregnancy, about how much protein we need and where to get the protein. The truth is, we not only eat TOO much protein in USA, but we eat the kind of protein from animals which comes with heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, auto immune diseases, etc. So go with what Rory and Kim say.plant based protein...a great source without the baggage!
I love this book!!! It cracks me up but makes me realize how crappy the food of today is. I am going on a week of being a vegetarian and i feel great. I didnt realize how bad animal meat was and how gross it actually is. If everyone read this book there would be a lot more animals saved and maybe our government would get the message that what they are doing isnt right.
Hi, if you really want to feel great, buy Skinny Bitch in the Kitch!
I am not saying you will turn into raving beauties like Rory and Kim, but you will have a healthier body weight and feel great! And, since you will not be eating dairy or eggs, you will no longer be hurting the animals. Did you know that dairy cows are raped over and over again, while pregnant, to keep the milk overproducing for humans to use? And then, after 4 horrible years of confinement and torture, crying for their babies who were taken from them within miniutes of their birth, they are taken to the slaughterhouse to become your hamburger! Stop the cruelty!
