Description:
Dr. Will Tuttle, an award-winning writer, educator, pianist, and composer, has presented widely throughout America and Europe.
Author of the international best-seller, The World Peace Diet, he has also taught college courses in mythology, philosophy, humanities, comparative religion, and creativity. His Ph.D. dissertation in education from the University of California, Berkeley, focused on educating intuition in adults. A Dharma Master in the Zen tradition, he has done intensive training in Korea, and has practiced meditation and vegan living for over 30 years.
He is devoted to promoting world peace through educating compassion and spiritual awareness through writings, music, and presentations. He lives with his spouse Madeleine in a solar-powered rolling home.
My wife and I eat an organic vegan diet mainly because pesticides are toxic to ecosystems and harm birds, fish, insects, and life-forms. As vegans, or people who care about others, how can we pay for conventional poison-sprayed stuff? In our view, organic (and better still, veganic) is essential to a compassionate lifestyle. We don't eat organic for our health, but for the health of others.
I hope we'll get over our self-preoccupation in this culture!
Thanks, VegSource, for telling it like it is! VegNews has done a real disservice - this series of acts of deception by VegNews makes vegans the laughingstock of meat-eaters, unfortunately.
VetgNews' refusal to apologize about the Loving Hut debacle, and again with this debacle is disturbing, in that both of these are direct attacks on the integrity of our movement to reduce violence and disease. Both are blatant acts of public deception, which is a form of violence. As vegans, we renounce violence. What gives, Joe and VegNews?
Thanks Oram! I agree with you, and am looking forward to seeing you the next time I come to Switzerland -- will be in touch. The more we spread the vegan message, the easier it will be to find vegan foods in restaurants and stores. A few months ago when we were in Basel, Madeleine and I absolutely could NOT find any vegan chocolate bars -- not even in the health food stores! - They all had dairy in them. Only one didn't - and it was carob, not chocolate. The dairy industry really OWNS the Swiss, it seems! I'm sure it's getting better though as people learn more.
Thanks Rafael for helping to spread the vegan message in Switzerland! Actually the "vegan" restaurant in question (Swiss Vegan Hotel) only serves dinner 2 days a week (Fri & Sat), and serves no lunches, so I don't consider it a proper vegan restaurant because of this. It's good, though, to see some progress, but letting go of dairy will be the challenge!
Let me know if you'd like to do another English podcast; Madeleine goes back & forth to Switzerland every summer, and I am visiting as well, besides the World Peace Diet tour here in North America.
