Description:
I am a retired Fire Prevention Officer from Sacramento, California. I was in the fire service for 26 years. I now live in Columbia, Tennessee and love the climate and distinct seasons. I am a new Extra-Vegan (as I call it!) I began Dr Esselstyn's food plan on June 4, 2011 and my body is very happy. Prior to June 4, I was on a Standard American Diet (SAD). I was mostly "sad" because there appeared to be no hope for my heart condition. I was suffering from chest pain and was in the hospital for atrail fibrilation in Jan 11. Thanks to a book ad from "Bottom Line", I read an article titled, YES, You Can Cure Heart Disease! It referenced Dr Esselstyn. I "Googled" his name, bought and read his book and immediately converted.
I am a firm believer that Dr Esselstyn's research and test results work! I was most impressed when after emailing his secretary with a couple of questions, he, himself, called me on the phone to see if there was anything he could do to assist me in the prevention and reversal of my heart disease. He answered many questions and was very encouraging! And he didn't ask me for a co-pay. Truely an officer and a gentleman! My personal cardiologist gave me no indication that I could reverse or even stop the progression of my disease, but only gave me 425mg of Asprin.
I want to live! I want to enjoy my life and family! I would only add to Dr Esselstyn's program, use only "organic" or "pesticide clean" locally grown vegetables if you can afford it. Also, I would encourage readers to purchase his book,
How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease,
http://www.amazon.com/Prevent-Reverse-Heart-Disease-Nutrition-Based/dp/1583333002
and his son's recipe book, The Engine 2 Diet is a must buy to help you transition:

Test all things, hold fast to that which is good. I Thess 5:21
What a great article!! Dr Esselstyn's book: Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease is available everywhere. His son's book, The Engine 2 Diet is also a must read to help transition from the SAD diet. I am in my second week as an Extra-Vegan (my words) and my body is very happy. 1st week I lost 17 pounds of intestinal garbage. Beginning 2nd week my sense of smell returned. I am excited to see what will be next!
