Please, be aware that they are strictly talking Type 2 or adult -onset diabetes in this article. Type 1 or Juvenile Diabetes is an auto-immune disease. It DOES NOT develop due to bad diet or artificial sweeteners. These type of articles that do not differentiate between the two types spread misinformation and prejudice against those (like my daughter) who had absolutely no control over becoming a diabetic. My sincere wish is for people to understand both types and educate others.

I'm so sorry your daughter has type 1 diabetes. I do understand the difference between the two. Type 2 diabetes is a man made disease. I am disgusted at what we as a family eat sometimes but we eat much better than we did years ago and will continue day by day to make changes.
My husband has high cholesterol. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150lbs. He exercises and eats right but his cholesterol without medication is 315. His body makes extra cholesterol and there is nothing he can do about it just like your daughter.
I too think that we as a society need to become more educated about what we eat. Unfortunately we believe what manufacturers tell us. I am guilty of this as well but am informed enough to know now that extremely processed food that no longer resembles itself in its' natural state is
horrible for us.
I do hope that a cure is found for diabetes as it is a horrible disease. Your daughter will no doubt have times of stress going to parties etc but hopefully it will not be forever.
I'm so glad I do not like the way processed foods taste. I always knew high fructose corn syrup was bad, but I didn't know why. Fat cells around your heart sounds pretty horrific if you ask me! Fruits and veggies taste better then all the processed stuff anyways, so just eat em'!
