For some time now I have been noting the common use of stock photo's on vegan baking websites and also in books authored by vegan bakers. While for an individual it may be a cost prohibitive decision, this, however, ought not be an excuse for a mom and pop publisher nor a corporation in presenting mixed messages to a public that already has mixed feelings about the use of animals.
"Non Dairy" Milk is what is recommended such as almond, hemp, etc.
Thank you. We need to remove our blinders and be willing to understand what happens to animals before they arrive onto our plates. Also, if we avoid using the absent referent when speaking of these sentient beings whose capacity for intelligence is that of a small child, e.g., "pork" instead of pig, we are more likely to experience empathy for their suffering as we would toward human suffering.

This is exactly what we need from newsletters like VegSource: greater awareness in print of our cultural gods: bigpharma and the FDA, most of whom are not qualified to direct our health or any other area of our lives.
