Description:

Hi. I am a small town girl from Kentucky. I grew up knowing the rural lifestyle and a simple kind of nutrition. My family is not into farming or anything so we ate pretty much what was on the grocery shelves. That included a lot of steak, chicken, and junk food. I went to school to be a nurse and have been working in a hospital for about 2 yrs now. I see people die because of their "lifestyle" every day I go to work. I have had a mom die of liver disease and an aunt die from lung cancer. In KY tobacco is a huge crop so it is pretty normal to start smoking or chewing tobacco at an age of 14. Unhealthy is kind of an understatement for this state. Not long ago I was talking with my friend who is from south africa about how bad I ate and how bad I felt all the time (granted I work night shift and that doesnt help). She said I should watch the movie Food INC. About a week ago I got around to watching it. Needless to say I was shocked. I was sitting in my house watching the movie balling my eyes out. That movie changed the way I ate from that moment. Im now just realizing how wide spread vegetarian eating is. I dont see much of it here in KY. Now I am looking for support from the vegetarian community. Its only been a week but I am truly passionate about this. I am committed to this lifestyle change and feel like im really making a difference in the poor helpless animals lives. If I can save one chicken or one cow I will feel like its all worth it. Plus I feel better already!!

I love this book!!! It cracks me up but makes me realize how crappy the food of today is. I am going on a week of being a vegetarian and i feel great. I didnt realize how bad animal meat was and how gross it actually is. If everyone read this book there would be a lot more animals saved and maybe our government would get the message that what they are doing isnt right.
