If you want to be thin -- and stay thin all your life -- there's really only one principle:
How many calories are you taking in, versus burning off?
You can restrict the foods you eat to keep the calories low, and lose weight. But it's almost impossible to live a life of calorie restriction...unless you're institutionalized where someone else controls your food.
Wouldn't you rather eat all you want, anytime you want, be as full as you want -- and still lose weight?
