If You Can't Pronounce It, Don't Eat It!
by Janet Tubbs
Arcadia Press, P.O. Box 8697 Scottsdale, AZ 85252-8697

This is not only good advice, it's the title of a basic guide to veganism. Here's the perfect first step towards better health—a book with delicious, nutritious, kid-tested recipes and plenty of tips for parents.

And, it's written by our own Janet Tubbs ("Omni"), one of the founders of VegSource.

If you've been thinking about changing your diet but don't know where to start, this book will help. It's easy to read and understand, amusing and filled with parenting tips as well as great, uncomplicated recipes. The left hand pages are left blank for your own notes, recipes or doodles.

It's hard to believe that food without sugar, meat, dairy products, preservatives or additives of any kind can taste so good. Would you believe that some of the best tasting snacks are the healthiest for you and fun for children to help prepare and eat?

There's a great chapter at the end of the book on homeopathy. It may seem strange to some people that a few pages on illness and healing are included in a cookbook, but it makes sense that a healthy body needs an unadulterated diet and Janet says this includes removing all unnecessary drugs and chemicals from whatever source, whether food or medication. And it makes sense to learn about homeopathy because they're natural remedies.

If you're asked (and what vegetarian isn't?) "Where do you get your protein?" you'll find the answer in this book along with information about vitamins and supplements. Two of the recipes were featured in Vegetarian Gourmet Magazine, so you know they're good!
