The Phantom Limo

February 15, 2002 -- Most of us are already tired of the sad situation with the apparent mental breakdown of Robert Cohen, and have read enough. However, when he fabricates false charges against people and broadcasts them publicly, it is necessary and right to counter them.

On Tuesday of this week, Mr. Cohen put out a venomous screed against John Robbins, creating false stories of Mr. Robbins insisting on riding in limos, flying first
class, and generally being a hypocrite. To illustrate this, Mr. Cohen screeched the following story:

When I attended Nelson's vegsource conference,
I barely made it back to the airport in time
to make my flight. The conference took place a
few weeks after 9/11, and security was so tight
at LAX that I had to be dropped off a few miles
from the airport and shuttled over. While waiting
for my ride from the conference to the airport,
there was a long stretch limousine also waiting.
The driver came over to apologize to me.
"I cannot give you a ride. The limo is reserved for
John Robbins, and is on 24 hour call." he explained.
My response: "But the airport is just a few minutes
away, and I'm late." The limo driver was not happy
refusing me the ride. "John Robbin's orders. That Limo
must remain here in case he calls for it."

On Tuesday, after this story broke, I telephoned and left a message for Mark Glover, the limo driver Cohen refers to in his story above. Mr. Glover teaches forensics at Ventura College, as well as working in the transportation and security business with many celebrity clients.

Last night I spoke with Mr. Glover, who stated the following regarding Mr. Cohen's statement above:

I was head of security for WorldFest last September. Mr. Cohen's version of events of my interaction with him quite simply did not happen. Here is the interaction I had with Mr. Cohen at that time.

I first met Mr. Cohen on Saturday at the VegSource eVent. I was already aware of his book, "Milk: The Deadly Poison."

The following day, Sunday morning, I saw Mr. Cohen at WorldFest inside the VegSource tent as he was apparently preparing to leave. I approached him and asked if he needed transportation to the airport. He said he had been planning to take a cab, but that he would love a ride. I told him he should hurry and get ready because increased security at LAX would add a lot of time.

When Mr. Cohen came over to my command center in the parking lot, he noticed the stretch limo which I was using that day. He asked if he could be driven to the airport in the limo. I explained that this was the car I was driving myself, and that since I was head of security I needed to stay close and couldn't take what might amount to two hours out of my morning to drive someone to the airport. I also told him I would soon be leaving to pick up John Robbins and his family at the hotel, to bring them over as John would be speaking at WorldFest.

Mr. Cohen understood, and we then chatted, and he told me he was putting on a three-day event in August of 2002 called "VeggieStock," and that he wanted to hire me to be his head of security at the event.

Subsequently I had one of my men - my father, Roland Glover - drive Mr. Cohen to the airport in a new Volvo. Another one of my security men, Mike Cooper, drove with my father and with Mr. Cohen to the airport. They told me they had a pleasant drive, and that Mr. Cohen had given them each a copy of his book, "Milk: From A to Z."

I want to further add that when I went to pick up John, Deo and Ocean Robbins at the hotel, they were very surprised to see that I had a limo that day. I often drive and provide security for John Robbins and Howard Lyman when they are in the Los Angeles area - for free - because I love and respect them and their work, and as a vegan it's a small thing personally I can do.

Mr. Cohen fabricated a story about Walsh being an infiltrator - something that was shown to be false. He fabricated a story about my being a "hacker" -- also false. He fabricated multiple stories about John Robbins. These have all been shown to be false.

Mr. Cohen was bashing John Robbins about having a limo when the truth is HE (Cohen) wanted the limo himself. He made it sound very insidious and diabolical that Mr. Robbins supposedly insists on limos when in fact HE (Cohen) wanted the limo, not just a ride. He twisted the events that took place beyond any recognition, all in the tortured effort to find fault with Mr. Robbins. Playing the victim, and wanting to create the impression that he (Cohen) got the cold shoulder and was left on his own, he left out of his story maligning Mr. Robbins that he actually DID get a free ride to the airport that day, in a brand new Volvo.

Mr. Cohen seems willing to say anything to deflect attention away from himself when he's caught in a lie. This is why I have come to the conclusion that he cannot be trusted, neither on a personal level nor as a source of reliable information about nutritional or scientific issues.
