Hello, i have found a baby feild mouse yesterday in my front yard. my cat had it in its mouth but i managed to get it away from my cat befor it got hurt. i put it in a shoe box with air holes. for bedding i used an old tee-shirt and tisue paper. if the mouse is alone u might want to put a small stufed animal in the box to give it company.
make sure you keep it warm! i wouldn't sugest a heat pad because it could kill the mouse by overheating it. the mouse has full hair and its eyes r open but its very little. i feed it bread and it eats it well. but i still have to simulate it to urinate. to do this take a cotten ball (or an old rag) and rub its privet areas it should urniate. if not it might be dehidrated. i give the mouse water through an eye dropper i also have fed the mouse milk that is warm. i dont micorwave it for it would be to hot. just leave it on the counter in a cup and for about 15 min. then feed it. MAKE SURE NOT TO FEED IT TO FAST! just feed it a drop at a time because if u feed it fast it might go into its lungs.
i would suggest keeping it because it has the scent of humans and is used to being taken care of and has no idea how to take care of its self. if you let it into the wild other mice even its parents would kill it.
in your paragraph you said it has black legs that look like a kangoroo. well you solved it yourself! feild mice are grey and have a cream color chest. the mouse you described sounds like a kangoroo mouse! im not sure but it would help if i knew what state you found the mouse in.
thank you for reading and i hope this helped. if you have some questions email me: pe_ac_e4gr_ee_n@yahoo.com bye
