I am happy to have found your posting due to just acquiring a two or three week old abandoned baby field mouse and was about to give it milk and cheese. I placed the little fellow in a two gallon fish tank and lined it with news paper. I then put in a face cloth and crumpled more paper for it to hide in. I went to the pet store and got some puppy formula and some mouse and rat food blocks. I already had a syringe since I have three parrots ''so I used yarn to simulate the mother.

The little guy is eating very well and I now am giving him grapes and cherries as treats after his normal feedings.

I take him out every once in a while to show him he is okay and since they are social creatures.

I think had I not seen your posting I might have killed him with the milk and cheese.

Eventually sometime next summer if I can get him to eat roots and seeds I will let him go. We will see.
