How big is the pond? Ducks really don't need to be watered, just make sure the water is open somewhere they can drink and eventually try to swim. The hay bale thing was a good idea, but I would use straw because hay has a lot of dust and may be bad for their lungs. A small house with a good supply of cedar chips will work also. Food, just give them any kind of squirrel or large wild bird food. Mallards are very hardy birds. They'll take a lot more than you think they will.
