This summer we were given mallards which a lady had raised after hatching. They are about eight months old and do not fly. They will not even swim in the pond. They stay around the pond at water's edge. Living in upstate New York, winter gets very cold and I don't know what should be done to protect them. Should we make some type of shelter? If so what type? Four females and 3 males. I'm afraid they won't have a chance this winter. Any advice anyone may offer would help. Thanks
