Thank you for the response. We have three beta and two act the way you described. They look healthy and when you tap the glass they come to life. I just got worried when they started the laying on the bottom curled up thing.

We have two bowls. One betas is by himself and the other two are in a divided tank with one of those plastic liners in the middle that you can lift up so the fish see each other. The box the bowl came in said it "promotes flaring". Is that good for the fish? If so how long do you let them "flare" at each other?
