I found a nest of 3 baby Robins on the ground this afternoon in my yard. I tried to replace the nest in a tree where I thought the mother would find them, They were unhurt but obviously scared and hungry however, the mother "would not" or "could not" find them. This went on for several hours. It was getting late and out of worry that they would not survive the night I took them in and began feeding them a mixture of yogurt and boiled egg yokes which they seem to like. I still have several questions,
1) Is it true that because I touched the nest my scent is probably freaking out the mother preventing her from going near the nest even though I never actually touched the Robins ... True or False?
2) Should I leave them in their nest or should I build them a new nest out of paper towels or baby diapers?
3) I have them in a box that has a heating pad in it to keep them warm. What temperature am I trying to achieve to keep them warm? Is it possible to overheat them?
4) What the best type of fruit to feed them?
5) How long will it take to care for them before I can attempt to release them and how fast will they grow
Thanks to everyone who has posted previous suggestions and comments because they were VERY HELPFUL!
I am now officially Henpecked..:)lol
