We had a robin's nest on the fan inside our gazebo. The nest blew down and 3 babies fell on the tabel below. Only one was alive. My friend came over and we put the nest in a shoe box and put the bird in the nest and fed it some water. My friend took the bird home to care for it, but it died within and hour or two. If I had to do it over, I would have put the bird back into the nest (without touching it) and put the nest into a nearby bush or tree so that the mother could come back to take care of it. From reading the responses, it appears that they do come back most of the time. I think this would have been the bird's best chance.
