People at Pet Smart have absolutely no clue what they're talking about! It isn't a "poison" if food is left uneaten and sinks to the bottom. The feeding part was correct but not this part. Uneaten food sinks to the bottom where BACTERIA can form and cause the betta harm if not treated and a lot is produced. Also, if your tank is 1-3 gallons, once a week water changes are necessary. 3-5 gallons can be 2 weeks and so on and so on. Never keep bettas together, they fihgt untill the other is dead. Also, while you change their water, they may need to get accustomed to the new environment. Bettas can go without food for a week or so. He may not be interested in eating for a while. Hope that helps! :)
