Subject:	Bored Betta?

Hi! I've had my betta boy since September '05 and he's a really happy guy, usually puffin up and making bubble nests but recently for the last say, 2 weeks he's been really listless. He sits at the bottom of his tank a lot and only puffs up when I show him a mirror (he used to puff up at me when he saw me). His appetite has also decreased, he sometimes splashes around in his tank (thrashing? itchy?) and his fins have disappeared! The poor thing has little fins now. But it doesnt look like fin rot to me, no black tips.

The whole thing is, I was told he was bored and could possibly be nipping his own tail and fins. I moved him closer to me for stimulation and have him on BettaFix for about 4 days but he still just... sits there! I'm worried, is he really sick or just being a lazy bum?
