I adopted princess my new little bishon from some people I knew. A
week prior they seen a ad on craigslist for a beautiful little girl bichon so
they responded to it only to meet some a@#hole in a Walmart parking lot
with a ball of dirty fur he was asking a couple hundrend for. They
informed him they weren't going to pay that he snatched the dog and
nearly took off until they convinced him to take 100 just to get her away
from him. Well 500 dollars in vet bills after some free xrays she is doing
okay. They didn't have time for a special needs dog so I took her since I
have one dog one cat and no kids live with my bf have all the time and
patience and been around a lot of special needs dogs before, but the
problem comes in I have never been around d a dog this abused. A week
ago she wasn't able to walk from being in a crate, was covered in feces,
bother ears swollen shut and to make it worse she has head trauma from
being hit. She's doing better she's up walking around still dragging some
but showing a lot of improvement still on ear treatment furs been cut
several baths lots of food(took three days for her to eat and drink really
didn't think she was going to pull through). So all and all she's on a good
road to physical recovery but the emotional and head trauma still needs
a lot of work. She is constantly growling and snapping at our over hyper
Boston and even the cat who is curious of her but doesn't bother her.
She is constantly in the corner. I bring her into the rooms with me, like if
I'm cooking she's in the kitchen with me but she's still so scared when I
make movements toward her anyone for that matter. She's not potty
trained or even puppy pad trained and she's 18 months. I'm really
soothing and loving toward her by I can't give her dog treats yet. She's
still on a chicken and rice diet per her vet. Even after the head trauma
caused loss of control with her mouth and tongue so treats have to be
really soft. Any advice on the situation to try and get her to open up
would be greatly appreciated. I expect it to take awhile but anything that
could help I'm willing to try. She's been through so much just want her to
be happy. I'm taking her on walks three times a day but its not really
walks she's never been on a leash either so really just me standing
outside trying to encourage her to walk lol.
